- What is Ail Files?
- Ail Files is the set of file engines behind Ail. Each one turns structured data into a real file: PowerPoint (.pptx), PDF, Word (.docx) or Excel (.xlsx). You ask for a file in the chat, Ail writes it as data, and the engine draws it.
- Is Ail Files open source?
- Yes. We made the engine open source so that anyone can contribute. You will find it on GitHub as ail-files.
- Which files can it make?
- PowerPoint decks (.pptx), PDF documents, Word documents (.docx), and Excel workbooks (.xlsx).
- Can I edit a deck after it is made?
- Yes. Press Edit on the deck in your chat and it opens in the deck editor. Change any text, chart value or table cell, add, move, copy and delete slides, set a font, text size, colours or background picture for one slide, place your own pictures, undo and redo, and go back to an earlier version. Your changes are saved as you type.
- Can I move things around on a slide?
- Pictures you add can be moved and resized on any slide. To move a slide's own parts, such as its title, cards or chart, turn on free-form for that slide. It takes one click, is instant and uses no AI. Decks made in Force dynamic layout (beta) are free-form from the start.
- Does editing use AI?
- Only when you ask it to. Editing text, colours, pictures and positions, and turning on free-form, do not use AI. Ask Ail on a slide and Change layout do, and they change only the slide you are on.
- Will the files open in PowerPoint, Word and Excel?
- They are standard .pptx, .docx and .xlsx files, and PDFs, not a special format. Our own checks open them in LibreOffice and look at the result.
- What happens to my pictures and decks?
- A deck you edit is saved encrypted in your Ail account. Pictures and your logo are kept encrypted in your account too, so they follow you to your other devices, and they are used only to draw your file. If you turn on Let Ail see them, a small preview of each picture goes to the model so it can place it.
